Anyone with Sprint tweaked that the USB male adaptor into the phone is not a std USB head, but a new style? And apparently, different than the Verizon models...

Anyone w Sprint founs a decent car phone adaptor? All of the examples i've seen online (including the links in the forum) have the std male adaptors, not this Sprint funky one.

TIA.

that's a HTC quirk, not Sprint. the HTC connector has one additional wire in it compared to USB. It's my understanding that the extra wire is used in part to output video with the optional video out adapter. Speaking in general, carriers don't aim to sell a whole lot of accessories (if they did, the price points wouldn't be so ridiculous). the monthly revenue from the service is what drives the carriers.

I've been using my Razr car charger with no problems.

Any standard USB plug will work with HTC phones, whether it's for charging or syncing. It's just that an HTC accessory will not work with a competitor's phones.

A regular mini-usb will fit into the Sprint socket.  I use the cord for the GPS Navi in my car to charge the HTC.

The reason that they made the charger plug slightly different is so you don't use the phone's low-power charger to try to power a larger device, which could blow out the charger and cause a warranty claim.

Pretty simple.

So, any USB charger should charge the battery? I use a Belkin Mini Power strip that includes two USB outlets. I charge my iPod with one and I assume I could charge the phone with the other using a standard USB cable. So I just need a car/USB charger to keep it going in the car when I'm running the GPS?

I haven't yet seen the TV out cable - anybody know where to get one of those?

Pretty much yes.  That's the same USB that is commonly used on older Palm devices, and on Garmin GPS devices and a some cameras and some other devices.

Keep in mind that there are about 3 or 4 different "mini usb" connections that are pretty common.
