even maxing the volume from the volume button doesn;t help

max doesnt do the trick... only hope is to use your own ring tones or mp3's that u have as ring tones (that would sound much louder)... other wise u will have to put up with the crappy low rings. There is a hack u can use i believe which can be found on http://forum.xda-developers.com but the sound cracks a bit after u use the hack.. if u can stand that then go for it. I prefer to use my own tones and try to leave the roms alone if i can.

I use my own mp3 ringtone and mp3 for text message notification, also some other free ringtones  I have downloaded including those from the HTC e-club are louder and better than those that came std with the TP
