First of all, this is my first phone that does more than text and make phone calls so please forgive my ignorance.   Cheesy  I just purchased a new Tmobile TP2 from a seller on ebay.  The seller upgraded it to Win Mobile 6.5.  This is what it says under "About" in the "system" screen:  Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional    CE OS 5.2.28004 (Build 28004.5.3.0).  My learning curve is still kinda slow but I'm pretty sure this isn't normal.  When I slide out my hard keyboard, the letters work but the alt and shift button are backwards.  When I press the "alt" button, the "shift" light turns on and vice versa.  But they don't do what they're supposed to.  None of the secondary characters work with either combination of shift or alt (punctuations).  Plus, the number row doesn't work.  It just gives me symbols.  The only way I can get numbers to appear while texting is to bring up the touch screen keyboard. Obviously, this isn't acceptable.  I like the look of 6.5 but do I need to get it flashed back to 6.1 in order for the keyboard to work?  The seller said he can flash it back to me and it should fix the keyboard problem but says I'll lose the apps he installed on the phone.  Is there anything I can to to fix this problem?  I've waited so long to get this phone and this is quite a dissappointment.

The seller is right - it's the ROM he flashed to the phone that's not considering the way At&t set up it's keyboard.

I would definitively get the original ROM back on there. As far as the apps go - you can probably get most of the apps back on there - everything but the UI - which a different TF3D.

Oh, hmmmm...so I guess the ROM installed on my Tmobile TP2 was designed for the ATT version?  Does Tmobile even have a WM 6.5 designed for it?

I meant to say Tmobile. Sorry. But yes, the ROM was probably not designed for the Tmobile version.

Thanks!  I think I'll just flash back to 6.1 rather than take a risk on looking for a Tmobile version of 6.5.  Will flashing back to 6.1 make the phone work as well as it would coming from the factory?  I mean, you know how it's always better to do a clean install of Windows on a PC (format drive, install OS) rather than a reinstallation of Windows over top of the existing one?

yes, look around xdadevelopers.com or ppcgeeks.com for a stock tmobile 6.1 ROM. It will totally wipe your phone - so you should be good to go. Some folks swear by doing a couple of hard resets after & before flashing to be on the safe side.
