I am one week into the learning curve with my new HTC Touch Pro from Verizon. So far I am very pleased but a bit overwhelmed by the phone sort of "taking off own its own" and me struggling to hold on to the reins. I have looked through some of the prior questions but did not see answers that I needed; I have more questions but will ask only a few at a time.
1. The phone will on its own decide to go to another page or location, the most common one is Settings/Clocks & Alarms; then I have to push the "house" key to get back to the main screen;
2. Normally I try to keep the phone in the 'device locked' position when I am not using it; however, when the phone rings while in the carrying case, I take it out to answer and it appears that either the phone ringing or the movement of taking the phone out "unlocks" the device; I don't understand how it gets unlocked so easily when there are only 2 buttons on the edge that I could touch that have to do with volume; maybe I am slightly moving the keyboard which I have found will unlock the phone;
3. I read in one FAQ in this forum that the first step when opening the box of a new phone is do a hard reset, maybe 2, 3 or 5 times; the FAQ was dated 2007 and I am wondering if this is still a valid step because the hard reset will require that I reinstall ActiveSync, lose data files on the phone.

Thanks

1. Yeah, I've got the same problem. It's the touchscreens fault. Just lock the device. (hold END KEY button for a little while. The device will then be locked)

2. The phone automaticly unlocks the phone when it gets an incoming call.
I recommand you to try out Pocketshield or S2U2.

3. Yes.
But it's only for before you've turned on the device the first time.

3) one single hard reset should do it.
