Verizon Touch Pro GPS Unlock

I had a friend send me this link:

saying that it was an unlock, released by verizon, for the GPS capabilities on the phone. This is in my opinion a legitimate source of information, but I wanted to ask about it here because I do not recall ever reading it on this site.

Can someone assist me in confirming/denying this?

Welcome to the forum!

It's a ROM upgrade, "Maintenance Release for the XV6850 6-11-09XV6850_MR1_Upgrade_v2.0", but it doesn't say what it fixes or changes.

Also, looking at the date, it's not the newest one. You'll find one on HTC.com dated 8-14-2009.

It has a "contact us" link on the pcdphones.com site. You could email them and ask them what the deal is.

I've installed the "official" Verizon ROM update (1.08.605.4) that supposedly unlocks the GPS, yet I cannot get it to work with Google Maps. I've played around with various configurations as far as the GPS settings in the phone and in Google Maps go, but the phone never finds any satellites.

Has anyone been successful in getting GM to work on the TP with this ROM update? If so would be kind enough to share your phone/app settings?
