I really need help choosing one over the other. I have made up my mind that I want one of these two on sprint.

Based on ease of use and features both hardware and software being part of the comparison which is truly better?

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer my question!

I've heard so much more about the TP, good reviews etc... And I've heard so much BAD about the Instinct! But I can't say either of them, but after the critics to judge, I would say, go for the TP!

But dfootball56 is a former instinct owner, I bet he will answer you, and tell you the best choice! Tongue

Good luck!

Well I'm a mod over at the Instinct forum and the admin over here so I can't go off and bash either phone..lol

I will say this :

When I owned the Instinct; If you want strictly a multimedia phone (ie movies, music) the instinct is a great phone.  I am more of an application guy and love how this phone has so many apps and games available.

The Instinct is a java based phone with no revealed Operating System so development of applications and games are VERY VERY limited and that wasn't flying with me.  Not to mention they have so many restrictions on the API's and require signed certificates to develop apps and games worth buying.  In order to have a certificate "signed" developers have to pay $5000 and be accepted into the developer program.  Basically as far as apps and games go you would be SCREWED with the Instinct and very unhappy if you are into downloading different apps for your phone.

This phone is Windows mobile based.  WinMo has been around FOREVER and there are sooooo many apps and games available.  The screen is smaller so movies don't look quite as good although the resolution of the screen looks better than the Instinct.  The menu layout of WinMo is definitely more confusing but you catch onto it very fast.  This phone has WiFi and the Instinct does not.  The menu layout of the Instinct is VERY user-friendly and navigating around the menus is a breeze.

Both phones have MicroSD card slots.

The on-screen keyboard for the Instinct tends to lag a little bit but after a while it gets back to normal.  Plenty of room to type though so don't worry about the screen being too small to fit all of the letters.

What it boils down to is if you want a phone for multimedia or a phone with a bit of a smaller screen for multimedia and app/game support.  One thing to also keep in mind is both phones are HIGHLY supported by Sprint so updates will continue to roll out within the next year or two.

My personal opinion would obviously be the Touch Pro seeing that I own one now..lol  They are already talking about the possibility of making the Instinct II so you may want to hold off on the frustration of the Instinct and get the Touch Pro until they develop the Instinct II.  The next generation Instinct should be a VERY VERY nice phone.

Hope this helps you.

You know, a lot of people don't give the Instinct the credit it deserves. Bottom line, try both, and choose that way

Because everyone has the money to buy both phones and pay an ETF, right?

Wanna get smart with me?

Try the 30 days where you can return, free of charge, no questions asked for a different phone.

My prior phone was the Instinct.  If it wasn't for 3 phones going bad in under 2 months, I'd probably still have it.

Granted, the Touch Pro I have now is a WAY MORE POWERFUL device than the Instinct, but the Instinct I found to be a lot more user friendly, especially while mounted in a cradle above my dash (windshield-mount) while doing 60 MPH on the expressway.

The two things I do miss about the Instinct were the Visual Voicemail and Mobile Sync.  I'm hoping eventually Sprint will find a way to bring these services to the Touch Pro.

However, the Touch Pro allows me to sync calendar and contacts with my laptop, and as well I've found a "replacement" for Mobile Sync called Dashwire, which also backs up photos, messages, and call history, etc.

My personal preference between the two?  Definitely the Touch Pro, even if it has more of a learning curve.

As others have stated, try one or the other.  If you don't like the one, you have the option to return within 30 days for the other.
