Hey Guys,

I have been searching on the site for some apps to prevent my phone from unlocking when receiving a call. So far, I have it narrowed down to either S2U2 or PocketShield. I have some basic questions concerning these apps. Please bear with me as I am new to the smartphone world. Embarrassed

1. Which do you all prefer? Does PocketShield work great? I like the idea of it, but I wanted to hear from you all first.

2. I have heard of battery life problems when using S2U2. Can this be avoided?

3. Does Pocketshield have battery life issues?

Thanks in Advance

Please use search.

Here's a little information about PocketShield:

POCKETSHIELD!!! It's a great program which let you answer by sliding your finger, but in a different way than the S2U2, and I find it quite attractive! You'll slide downwards!

Also, it can protect the screen under a conversation! (You will have to slide your finger downward from screen to unlock so you can press anything! BUT you can dissmiss a call/end a call by pressing the hardware button)

Heres the link.
http://www.pocketshield.net/default.htm

Visit the site! And SEE IT IN ACTION (It's a tab on the site which will give you many videos of it in use!) Cheesy
Try it! It's refreshing and quite nice! =D

Aright so I gave pocketshield a shot.  A little confusing at first but it's working out.

Personal Flaws:
-It's a little dull, not much going on, it's pretty much a black screen
-There's no showing of where you're supposed to slide down, you just kind of find the top and slide it down
-It has a on screen battery image but it's a tiny little line at the bottom (Boo)

The good:
-Smooth
-Shows notifications
-A good amount of customization available
-Many different unlock methods
-Themes are available for download or creating (I'm working on one right now actually)

You can download new themes from http://www.pocketshield.net/themes/ when downloaded just install the .cab Smiley
Hope this helps! =D

You should slide it from the top of the screen all the way down until it unlocks =D
Watch the videos here, they'll help you Smiley

Do you want it bigger?
Open the settings, ::Design::Layout and Background (-> Save "Name on theme" if you've installed themes)::Then you can either split of classis, and all at the bottom it says Show Battery, uncheck if you don't want it, and press the [...] and incrase the Battery Line Width if you want it bigger.

Also remember that between the check and the big green A with a circel around (The OK and Activate button) If there's a Screen with a "!" in, press on it, and the pocketshield logo will show, this means that it's activated Smiley

And 3.5 .NET Compact Framework is required! (For those who didn't manage to open it!)
Here's how you get it! Cheesy

GO here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E3821449-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en

Download it to your computer

Make sure you know where it downloads to

Connect your Touch Pro to your computer with your data cable (Make sure to choose Connect with ActiveSync on your phone)

Click on the file on your computer.  Follow the setup instructions on the computer.  It will prompt you to check your phone and finish the set up.  Soft reset your device.

Then try opening that program again.

Hope this helps! =D

Ohh, and also in Battery [...] You can change color and so on, it's quite flexibel

The Classic mode will make the Clock and Notifications come together, and the Split will part the clock to the top and notifications to the bottom of the screen!

Also remember that you can unlock screen by multiple options
By lightsensor! (Press the + in Unlocking) then calibrate, you'll get more info when you do this)

By Finger slide (This is the slide down from top to stop Wink )

By movement gestures (Press the + to get videos and options on how you can move your hand to unlock)

By round center button (Haven't tried this yet, but I think that it's by pressing ENTER button)

By stylus out (by taking your stylus out from it's container)

Also you can add vibrate to unlock, which is quite neat Smiley

If you go to Phone, you can Protect screen while talking, this is nice, under a conversation you can't press anything!
Also, Protect incoming calls, which will make you slide your finger downwards to answer or ignore Cheesy

Also it can be good to know that S2U2 IS draining your battery!!
Pocketshield, ISN'T! Cheesy

To answer some questions;
1. I prefer pocketshield (even though you need to pay for it).
2. No, there is this battery draining in S2U2.
3. Pocketshield does NOT have a battery draining ability.

I believe he did search - and just wants to see how we feel about the two programs.

I've never used Pocketshield, but I'm very happy with S2U2!

The lastest version has no battery drain and adds Slide-to-Answer, which is great for not answereing calls in your pocket.

Yeah, I had been digging around the site a little bit which is where I picked up the info about the two apps. I appreciate the help. I think I am going to try out S2U2 and see how it works out.

I really like the slide to unlock feature. Grin

Atomic, does the slide to unlock feature have any delay when answering calls? I didn't want it to affect my ability to answer calls when I get to them late.

Since I have Slide2Answer with the regular phone, I don't use this feature of S2U2. The possibilities in the Settings menu of S2U2 are awesome!

Before that, I didn't notice any delay however.

I love the feature to mark new email "read" from the S2U2 screen, without actually having to go into the inbox.

I have used Slide 2 Answer with it before.  While there isn't a whole lot of delay for the most part it does kind of get annoying.  I found it easier to disable Slide 2 Answer and just use the Answer keys.  I love the program, it works great.
