I have a couple of email accounts on my HTC Touch Pro. All was great, until one day something screwy happened.

My gmail account "new mail indicator" got stuck on 1, even though there are no new mail messages. I've done a soft reboot, cleared the messages, sent myself a new message, kept stuff as new, but nothing clears this indicator. If I get another new message, the count goes up to 2. The counter works just fine in every other way - except when my mailbox is empty, it still shows I have 1 new message.

Any hints? I'd hate to have to just delete the account and reinstate it, but that seems like what I'm going to have to do.

Is there a registry hack that will let me change this indicator? (Funny how I'd rather hack the registry than just delete/readd the account!!). I'm an experienced PC and WinMo user, so I have no issues with editing the registry.

I thank you in advance for your help.

no need for anything drastic, it's the "windows tips and tricks" email,,,,happened to me a bunch of times.

go to your Inbox

upper left-hand corner tap where it says "Inbox" with a little down arrow next to it

you should see that somewhere in there there is a folder that shows a blue (1) next to it,,,,that's where your hidden message is,,,,,delete it and VIOLA

Thanks for the suggestion... but that didn't fix it. It says the new message is in my Inbox. There's nothing in my inbox, either on my phone or in my gmail account itself.

As a last ditch effort, you can delete the account and set it up again. When it syncs, it should put everything back correctly.
