I have really been wanting to unlock my Touch Pro so I can load up the latest Verizon ROM (the pre-release).
I have managed to get my Windows 7 64bit machine to load a "Generic Serial' driver for my phone by unchecking 'Advanced Mode' in the USB Connection. I have also downloaded and installed the latest WMDC offered by windows (
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx).
When I look at the properties of my "Generic Serial" device it is named PocketPC USB Sync. This makes me think that Windows has some understanding of whats going on. Heck, It even knows the manufacturer is HTC.
The part that sucks is WMDC never says anything is connected. I get the bing bong, the driver loads but WMDC never connects.
Now I'm not even sure if I need WMDC to recognize my device to upload the latest ROM but from what I read it definitely is required.
Thanks in advance,
Zach
